Tegucigalpa, Honduras September 2014
I recently took my annual trip to Central America and, once again, visited my daughter's second home in Honduras. We ventured out more than usual this time and had several day trips, which we both totally enjoyed. Every time I visit this beautiful land, I am reminded of the drastic conflict that abides there...remarkable beauty alongside great poverty. God bless those who go into poverty-stricken areas, whether on foreign soil or right here in America, to bring food to the hungry, help to the helpless, and love to the forgotten ones.
When I think of the beautiful countryside outside the city of Tegucigalpa, I am reminded of the potential this country has to be a paradise. To the northeast, the island of Roatan is a popular vacation destination and a far cry from the poverty found within the capitol and surrounding areas. One of our day trips was to the Valley of Angels outside the city where I captured some of the beautiful images of the mountains. The ride through downtown is quite a trip, but I love the colorfully painted buildings and homes. The Valley of Angels is a great place to visit for handmade items of all kinds and we visited one of Hollie's favorite coffee shops while there...very rustic and quaint with wonderful coffee and homemade pastries.
It was a trip I will not soon forget, and visiting this country has changed me. Every time I visit, I learn more about this beautiful place and its people. Here are a few images I captured while there (Click on individual images to enlarge and see captions).

When I am able, I travel to Honduras once a year. My daughter and her family live in the capitol city and do mission work with the families who make their living going through trash in the city dump. It is a breathtakingly beautiful country, but such a poverty-stricken land. To follow their blog or to make a donation, go to http://adamhollie.wordpress.com
