If you scroll down to a project where I covered a 30x40 art canvas with fabric for quick, easy, & affordable wall art, you'll see the how-to of this project. But, alas, it was time for something new and once again I re-covered this canvas. By the time I'm finished with this piece of art, it may have several fabric covers. It'll be like
un-earthing multiple layers of paint on an
old dresser! Cost of this piece of art, using an already purchased canvas? $12.00!
I have found several new lamp shades lately for a song! But I usually find that these "good-deals" are very plain indeed! I like to change up the way a lamp looks with a new shade and I also like to switch my lampshades around from lamp to lamp, giving me a total new look. But if you find a great deal on a "plain Jane," it's super easy to bring it up a couple of notches with some simple embellishments. For this project, I used a silk flower and some ribbon scraps I had on hand. Also, this does work best on a square shade or a drum shade.
What You'll Need:
Lamp Shade (square or drum-style)
Embellisments (ribbon, buttons, flowers, anything!)
Hot glue gun
Flat curling iron
Embellish a Lamp Shade in Five Easy Steps:
Home projects have virtually come to a standstill this winter around my place. But as the time draws closer to putting this house on the market, there are projects that still need to be done! One of the biggest things we wanted to do was to replace the super-disgusting kitchen floor! Ugh! Now, I know this floor started out in its beginnings as a lovely congoleum (or something of that nature) and it shined and looked all pretty, but after years of neglect and abuse (which includes tears and cigarette burns), alas, the time finally came for it to be buried -- underneath a new beautiful floor, that is!
After shopping & talking and talking & shopping for the perfect floor to install, we made the decision to put in laminate. Now, we have never used laminate flooring in any of our houses, it's always been carpet, hardwood or bamboo (which I happen to really love). But laminate flooring has come a long, long way from its beginnings! Here are a few pictures of the project. There aren't many pictures because it was a relatively easy project...but we'll get our money back plus a whole lot more when the house goes on the market! It's amazing how a new floor will make a room look completely different...
Here is an image of the finished project.
